How to make easy DIY Bathroom Cleaner at home!

Want to make your own homemade bathroom cleaner?  It’s easy, cheap and quick!  Plus, it only takes ingredients, ingredients you probably already have inside your home.  This is a very easy DIY bathroom cleaner recipe that will only cost you a few pennies and a couple of minutes to whip up.  No need to go to the store!

I have been busy Spring Cleaning my house.  This usually takes a few weeks to do.  But, I get it done eventually!!  My least favorite room to clean in the house is the bathroom.  I’m sure I am not alone in this!  I always put this job off for days!  However, if I am going to clean the bathroom, I might as well be doing it with a cleaner that I know was affordable and environmentally friendly, right???  Right!

Years ago I started making my homemade bathroom cleaner and have not looked back since.  Making your own DIY bathroom cleaner is so easy and is a great way to save money!  Store bought cleaners are expensive!

How To Make DIY Bathroom Cleaner

The first thing you need to do to make this homemade bathroom cleaner recipe is to gather your supplies.  For this recipe you will need:

  • Plastic Spray Bottle
  • Baking Soda
  • Vinegar
  • Lemon Juice
  • Dish Soap
  • Water

Put the plastic spray bottle in the sink (the cleaner tends to overflow while you’re mixing).

Add the 2 tsp of baking soda and 1 cup vinegar to the spray bottle.  Allow the foam to settle and then add the rest of the ingredients.

Pour 1/3 cup of lemon juice, 1/4 cup dish soap and 1 1/2 cups water into the spray bottle.

Put the lid back on and then shake well.

This solution should last for 6-12 months.  I use it to clean the toilet, sink, countertops, shower and bath.  It’s basically your one stop shop for bathroom cleaner!

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup dish soap
  • 1 1/2 cups water

Instructions

  • First, add the baking soda to the spray bottle and then add the vinegar.  I do this in the sink, and do it slowly because it will foam.
  • Squeeze the foam out and then add the rest of the ingredients.  After all of the ingredients are added put the lid back on the bottle and shake it up really good.  That's it!  You are ready to tackle the bathroom!  This lasts me about a year and I use it for every part of the bathroom; the toilet, sink, countertops, shower and bath.

5 Easy Homemade Cleaner Recipes

February 26, 2020 By: Sweet Frugal Lifecomment

Save money by making your own homemade cleaners!

Want to know a secret about me???  I use to spend way to much money on fancy store cleaners.  It was admittedly a fun little hobby of mine.  I absolutely loved browsing the cleaning section of the store.

I mean…why buy an all purpose bathroom cleaner when I could buy a toilet bowl cleaner, a shower cleaner and a cleaner for the counter top???  There were just so many fun choices!

Once I realized I needed to cut back my spending habits, my fancy store bought cleaners were the first thing to go (sad day!).

I began teaching myself new recipes and was blown away by how quick and easy and CHEAP homemade cleaners were to make!

Today I am sharing 5 of my favorite homemade cleaner recipes.  I hope that they help you save a little extra money as you clean.

Recipe #1:  Homemade Window Cleaner

I recently learned how to make this easy window cleaner (aka:  vinegar water).  Honestly, I was fairly skeptical at first, but  I couldn’t believe how well it worked, better than any store bought cleaner I have tried!

Plus it only requires two ingredients!  It just doesn’t get better than that!

To make this vinegar water solution you will need to mix together:

  • 1 part water
  • 1 part vinegar

Pour the mixture into a spray bottle.  You can buy these for cheap at the Dollar Tree.  Shake the bottle a little, and you’re done!

To Use Homemade Window Cleaner:

When you are ready to use this easy window cleaner recipe just spray it on your windows or mirrors and wipe clean with a paper towel.

So easy and it works like a charm!  Promise!

#2:  Homemade Outdoor Window Cleaner

Another one of my favorite homemade cleaner recipes is this outdoor window cleaner.

I love using the vinegar water for my indoor windows, but my outdoor windows need something a little stronger (ehhh…anyone else????)

I have been using this homemade outdoor window cleaner for years.  It gets all those pesky hard water spots gone and leaves my windows squeaky clean.  Exactly what I need!

Homemade Outdoor Window Cleaner

This is the best DIY outdoor window cleaner ever!

We have been busy around here with Spring Cleaning.  I might be a little strange, but I honestly look forward to Spring Cleaning each year.  It’s so fun to have a fresh start and clean home!  One of my favorite Spring Cleaning chores is cleaning my windows.  There’s just something about those sparkly clean windows that make me so happy!  Today I’m sharing my favorite homemade outdoor window cleaner recipe.

Years ago I started making my own DIY outdoor window cleaner.  Not only is it MUCH cheaper, but it is also so quick and easy.  Just the way I like it!

You will only need three ingredients to whip up this recipe and you probably already have all of the ingredients sitting in your house, all you have to do is mix them together.  I really like this homemade outdoor window cleaner recipe because it gets even the toughest hard water spots off the windows.

When we clean our outdoor windows, we clean them as a family.  It’s such a fun way to get everyone involved and spend a few hours together.  My kids love helping mix the solution, and spraying the windows.

I have such fond memories of doing this as a young child with my family.  We had a few windows that were up to high to reach.  So, my dad would go get the tractor, let us kids sit in the bucket loader and would then lift us up to the windows.

I remember us laughing and feeling so tall sitting up in the bucket.  It’s a memory I will always treasure!

I don’t have any high windows, and I don’t have a tractor.  But!  I do have windows and kids and we can make our own memories.
