How To Earn Free Amazon Gift Cards

November 29, 2022 By: Sweet Frugal Lifecomment

Easy Ways To Get Free Amazon Gift Cards

I’ve been finishing up the last of my Christmas shopping the past few days.  And as I’ve been shopping I’ve been so grateful for all of my free Amazon gift cards I’ve been saving up during the year.  They help make Christmas much more affordable!

I get asked a lot about how to earn free amazon gift cards, and I decided it was time to share all of my favorite ways!  These hacks won’t make you rich, but they will help ease some of the financial burden you may feel.

Personally, I save up my Amazon gift cards all year to use for Christmas.  But, you could also use them to help pay for birthday presents, household expenses, back to school supplies, sports equipment, and everything in between!

Frequently Asked Questions About Earning Amazon Gift Cards

Before we get into how to earn free gift cards, let’s discuss a few of the most commonly asked questions.  Because if other people have asked me these questions….then I’m assuming you are wondering the same thing!

Can you actually get free Amazon gift cards?

Yes!  You can!  I know that there are a lot of scams and to good to be true deals out there.  But, the hacks I’m sharing with you today are all totally 100% legit.  I’ve earned Amazon gift cards using each of these methods and can vouch that they work and are safe!

Does it take a long time to earn a gift card?

This really depends on which method you are using, and how often you are using it.  Taking surveys through Swagbucks or Pinecone will probably help you earn gift cards faster then the reward apps.  However, it can take a while to earn a significant amount of gift cards cash.  Remember that slow and steady wins the race!

How do I redeem my gift cards?

When you have enough points to cash out for a gift card all you will need to do is select an Amazon gift card from the reward section of each of these apps/websites.

You will then be given a 14 digit code.  To redeem the code simply log into your Amazon account, and click on Gift Cards.  You will then enter the gift card code.  The money will now be available to credit to your next Amazon purchase!  So easy!

Ways To Earn Amazon Gift Cards

There are many easy ways to get free Amazon gift cards!  I like to use a mix of options to help the savings add up quickly!  Here are a few of my favorite methods.

1.  Swagbucks

Swagbucks was the very first rewards website I ever signed up for many many years ago.  They offer many different options to help you get Amazon gift cards.  You can earn points, called Swagbucks, for watching videos, taking surveys, searching the internet, shopping online, and so much more!  You can then redeem these points for gift cards to Amazon.

Sign up for Swagbucks here and get a $10 bonus!

2.  Survey Junkie

Another great way to easily earn free Amazon gift cards is to take surveys using survey junkie.  It’s so easy to do!  Just sign up for survey junkie here and fill out a profile to have surveys matched to your interests.

You will then be offered surveys to complete.  This is the perfect activity for when you are standing in line, watching TV, or have some time to kill.  Each survey takes about 15 minutes to complete and pay on average around $1-$3.

Each of your completed surveys will earn you points, these points can then be redeemed for Amazon gift cards.

3.  Upside

Do you fill your car up with gasoline???  Then you should be using the Upside app!

Upside gives you cash back, which can be redeemed for Amazon gift cards, at participating gas stations.  Most days I am able to get 5-20 cents cashback per gallon, but if you sign up using this link and use coupon code AFF25 then you will get a bonus 25 cents cashback per gallon!

Make sure to read my full honest review of the Upside app here.

4.  Pinecone Research

I recently started taking surveys on Pinecone Research and have loved everything about it.  It’s definitely my favorite survey website.

After registering on the Pinecone website you will begin to receive emails inviting you to complete surveys.  The surveys are fairly easy to fill out and take about 10-15 minutes to complete.

You will be paid $3 for each completed survey which can be redeemed for Amazon gift cards.

5.  Ibotta

There are so many cashback apps that will reward you with free Amazon gift cards.  The app that I’ve been using the longest is Ibotta.

Ibotta offers a huge selection of rebates.  I have earned cash back on a wide selection of products, including milk, apples, pantry staples, broccoli, beauty and household items.

One of my favorite things about Ibotta though is that they offer cash back on what they call “any brand” items.  For example, today they are having rebates on any brand of yogurt or diapers that you buy.  So you can buy your favorite brand, and get some money back at the same time.

Plus, they always offer a small cash back on “any item.”  So, I can buy anything in the store, and earn some money back.

Ibotta is super easy to use!

  • Just shop like you normally would.
  • Check the app for any rebates you earned.
  • Click on the qualifying items you purchased.
  • Scan your receipt.
  • Your cash back is instantly put into your Ibotta account.  Easy Peasy!

You can request your cash once you reach $20.  I usually get it deposited into my paypal account or redeem it for an Amazon gift card.

6.  Fetch Rewards

Probably the easiest app for earning Amazon gift cards is Fetch Rewards.   This app rewards you with points when you scan your gift cards, and then you can redeem the points for gift cards to places like Amazon, Target, Sephora, Best Buy, restaurants, and more!

How it works:

  • Download the free Fetch Rewards app
  • Grocery shop like you normally do
  • Scan your receipt into the Fetch Rewards app
  • You will automatically be rewarded points based on what you bought.

One of the best things about Fetch Rewards is that you can start redeeming your Amazon gift cards at only $3, and it is so easy to earn that first $3.

7.  Discover Card

Another easy way to get free Amazon gift cards is to use a Discover credit card.  With each purchase made on a Discover card you will earn cashback.  You can redeem the cashback as credit on your card, or you can use it to purchase items from Amazon. We allow this cashback to accumulate throughout the year and only use it to help us pay for Christmas.

  • BONUS!  You can get a $50 bonus when you sign up for a Discover Card and make your first purchase within 3 months.  Just make sure you pay it off monthly!

In Conclusion

Now that you know how to earn free Amazon gift cards, it’s time to start earning!  There are so many things you could do with some extra Amazon cash!

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.”  I am a member of online affiliate programs and will be compensated by purchases made from links in this post.

1.  Babysit

My very first job way back when was as a babysitter for kids in my neighborhood.  This was such a great learning opportunity.  Babysitting taught me responsibility, patience, creativity and helped me earn a lot of money.

If you are interested in babysitting I recommend you start with people you know well.  Share a flyer with neighbors, family or friends to let them know that you are available to babysit and how much you will charge.  I would start charging a small amount until you have gotten some experience.

Encourage those you babysit for to share your name and phone number with others.  When I hire a babysitter, I almost only do so if I had heard good things about them.  Word of mouth is key!

Consider taking a Babysitting Class such as this one offered from the Red Cross.  Or read this American Girls Babysitter book.  These are great ways to learn some new skills that will help you be the best babysitter you can be!

2.  Do Yard Work

Hire yourself out to do various yard work chores around your neighborhood.  These chores might include mowing lawns, raking leaves, pulling weeds, planting flowers, etc.  There are so many instances when adults just don’t have the time or energy to work in their yard and would happily hire a teenager to help them.

Post some flyers around your neighborhood and on your neighborhood Facebook page letting people know that you are available to hire for yard work.  If you do a good job, they will probably tell their friends, which means even more business opportunities!

3.  Walk Dogs

If you love dogs you might want to become a dog walker.  Many people will hire teens to walk their dogs while they are at work, out of town, or maybe just not up to a long walk.

Pass out flyers at a dog park or around your neighborhood letting people know that you are open for business.

4.  Camp Counselor

Another great way for teens to make money is to work as a camp counselor at a summer camp.  These camps love to hire teenagers and can be a very rewarding experience for everyone involved.

If you love kids, the outdoors and have a lot of energy than you would make a great camp counselor!

5.  Tutor

Which school subjects do you excel in?  Maybe math or science or English comes really easy to you.  There are a lot of parents who would love to hire a qualified teenage tutor to help their kids in these subjects.

You could advertise on the elementary and community Facebook pages in your area, along with handing out flyers at school to let people know you are available and which subject(s) you can tutor.

6.  Sell Your Clothes

If you have clothing sitting in your closet that you haven’t touched for months (or maybe even years), SELL THEM!  There is a huge market right now for quality, gently used clothing -especially if any of them are name brand.

You can list your clothing for sell on websites such as Facebook Marketplace, Poshmark, or Thredup.  Or, bring them to a consignment store in town to sell to, our favorite is Uptown Cheapskate.

Another great job for pet loving teens is to hire yourself out as a pet sitter.  You might be hired to take care of someone’s pets while they go on vacation or at work.

Duties could include letting the dog out of the house, feeding a fish, or just giving them some love and attention.

8.  Referee

Becoming a sports referee is the perfect job for teenagers who enjoy sports and staying active.  Ask around at your local sport leagues and parks and rec to see if they are hiring.  This also makes a great summer job if you are looking for something short term.

9.  Use Ibotta

Do you ever help out with the grocery shopping in your home?  If you do, make sure to download the free ibotta app to start earning free money on items you would be buying anyways.

Ibotta offers cashback on many groceries and other household items.  All you have to do is take a picture of your receipt and check ibotta for any matching items.  So easy!  You probably won’t make a ton of money, but it is perfect for a little extra cash, without much work!

10.  Detail Cars

Start a car detailing business.  This means you will hire yourself to vacuum, and thoroughly clean the interior of someone’s car.  I have paid teenagers to do this for me before, and it was worth every penny.

Pass out flyers in your neighborhood and post on the community Facebook page to let people know about your business and prices.

11.  Start a YouTube Channel

Did you know that you can make a lot of money on YouTube???  Because you totally can!

The first trick to starting a YouTube Channel is to choose a topic you are passionate about.  This could be anything from music, Minecraft, Legos, makeup, dance, etc.  Your passion and knowledge can then be shared through video on YouTube.

As your subscribers grow so can your ability to earn money.  There have been many teens who have found success on YouTube, and you can do it too!

12.  Bag Groceries

You could try to get a job at one of your local grocery stores to work as a grocery bagger.  This is a great job for teenagers who need a flexible schedule and reliable income.

13.  Sell Used Devices

Maybe you have old devices sitting around your house, you can sell many of these devices for some quick money through Gazelle.   All you have to do head to the Gazelle website, fill out a few quick questions about your device, and you’ll instantly receive a quote.  Gazelle will send you a free shipping kit for you to use to send in your device and will pay you within 24 hours of receiving your device.  So easy and painless!

Another great way for teens to make money is by washing cars.  All you need to get started is some water, towels, and car soap!  Let your neighbors and friends know that you are willing to wash their cars and what your prices will be.  This is a great service that many will pay a teen to do for them.

15.  Take Pictures

Are you interested in photography?  You might want to consider starting a photography business.  There are many people who will happily hire an amateur photographer to take family pictures for them if the price is right.

Watch a few YouTube videos to start learning more about photography and editing.  Then, after a little practice you can showcase your work through social media so that people can see your talent!

16.  Teach Swim Lessons

Most swimming pools hire teenagers to teach swim lessons to younger kids.  If you enjoy swimming and the water this could be the perfect job for you!

17.  Clean Out Window Wells

A few years ago a teenager started a business in my neighborhood to clean out window wells.  He crawled down into our window wells and cleaned out the mice, leaves, and other garbage that had blown inside.

I was so happy to pay him exactly what he charged to do the dirty work that I did not want to do.  If you are willing to work hard and get your hands dirty, consider cleaning out window wells.

18.  Work In Food Service

Food service companies are always hiring teens to help in their restaurants.  You could be a server, deliver food, work as a cashier, or more!  Check around at your favorite restaurants to find out who is hiring and how to apply.

19.  Work At A Movie Theater

Does your teen love movies?  They just might enjoy working at a movie theater.  They can sell tickets, or work at concessions.  Movie theaters are usually a fun environment to work at too.

20.  Give Music Lessons

If you are talented musically, consider giving lessons to younger kids.  Parents will pay for violin, piano, voice, guitar, etc. for their kids.  This is a great job to have because you can pick your own hours and work from home.  Yay!

21.  Work in Retail

Working in retail can be a great job opportunity for teens.  Most stores will hire teens as cashiers or to stock shelves.  Most retail stores will require that you are 16 or older, so make sure to check the rules before applying.

22.  Sell Your Photos

If you love taking pictures on your phone, why not sell them to earn extra cash!  This is actually so easy to do too!  Bloggers love to buy stock photos to use in their articles and websites.

A few websites that you can sell your photos to are:

  • Shutterstock
  • Depositphotos
  • Alamy

23.  Flip Furniture

Flipping means that you buy something used, fix it up, and then sell it for more than you bought it for.  Many people have been able to earn good money by flipping furniture.

You can shop at garage sales, estate sales, or thrift stores to find used wood furniture to fix up.  Most pieces will need to be sanded, stained or painted, and new pulls/knobs added.  This requires a little bit of your money upfront, but can be worth the sacrifice once you sell the new and improved furniture.

24.  Sell Items on Etsy

If you love to craft or create, you might enjoy making and selling items on Etsy.  There are hundreds of handmade items you can make and sell.  Such as jewelry, t-shirts, home decor, art, etc.

25.  House Sit

Offer to house sit for close family and friends.  When they go out of town they might need someone to get their mail, water their plants or flower beds, and watch over their house to make sure it stays safe and sound while they are gone.  This can be a fairly easy gig, but also high in demand for many households.

26.  Work on a Farm

Are you willing to work hard?  You might enjoy working on a farm.  I grew up on a farm and know just how important hard working teenagers can be for farm work.

If you live in an area with a lot of agriculture, I recommend asking around to find a few farmers you can talk to.  Ask if they are needing any extra help and tell them what hours you would be available to work.

Farm work isn’t easy, but it can be a very fulfilling job.  A farmer might hire you to help with animals, move pipe, or drive tractor.  This can be a great learning experience for teens!

27.  Teach Sport Skills

Teaching sport skills to young kids is a great way for sport loving teens to earn some extra money.  Pick a sport that you love and know well, and offer to help kids develop skills with that sport.

You could even plan a day camp for your sport where multiple kids come and learn drills, play games, and do other activities to help them learn.

28.  Hang Christmas Lights

Hire yourself out during the Christmas season to hang light on neighbors homes.  This is something many busy adults or the elderly would love to hire out so that they don’t have to do it themselves.

Be sure to advertise on a community Facebook page, place flyers around town, and spread the word to your friends and family.  Word of mouth is always the best form advertisement!

29.  Wash Windows

Another great idea for earning money around the neighborhood is to wash windows.  All you need is some water, a good outdoor window cleaner, and a squeegee and you’ll be good to go.

I’m sure you will find plenty of neighbors and friends willing to pay for this service.

30.  Work At a Golf Course

You might enjoy working at a local golf course collecting golf balls.  This is a great teen job for anyone who loves golf and being outside.

31.  Sell Baked Goods

Do you love to bake and spend time in the kitchen?  Why don’t you start a baking business?  You can make cookies, cakes, brownies, and other goodies and sell them to people in the neighborhood.

32.  Start A Blog

Teens can blog too!  And you can make money doing it!  Yay!  Try starting a blog where you share about a topic you are knowledgeable in.

I won’t sugar coat it, starting a blog is hard work and it can take a while to earn money, but over time if you keep working at it, you just might have a profitable business!  Here are a few things I wish I had known when I started blogging.

33.  Wrap Christmas Presents

Another great job idea during the holiday season is to offer to wrap Christmas presents for people who are just to busy (or don’t enjoy) wrapping the presents themselves.

Tell a few friends, neighbors and family about your new business to see if anyone is interested.  If you do a good job they just might tell all of their friends!

34.  Use Rakuten

If you ever shop online, I highly recommend using the Rakuten app (or website) to earn money while you are shopping.  This is one of the easiest ways to earn extra spending money.  Rakuten rewards you with cashback on most of your online purchases.

All you have to do is sign up Rakuten, open the app (or website), click on the store you want to shop at, shop as normal-including checkout.  And that’s it!  You will be rewarded with a percentage cashback from your purchases.

It is seriously that easy!  You probably won’t earn the big bucks doing this, but you can earn some spending money without putting in much effort!

35.  Become A Lifeguard

Lifeguarding is a great way for teenagers to make money.  Apply at your local swimming pools, health clubs, and parks and rec departments.  Many pools will offer lifeguard training and teach you everything you need to know on the job.

36.  Sell Items You Don’t Use Anymore

Look around your room and find items that you don’t like or use anymore.  These are the perfect items to start selling to earn some cash!  You can list them on Facebook marketplace or have a garage sale.  Either way will work great!

37.  Start A Day Camp For Kids

When my kids were little a few of the teenage girls in our neighborhood planned a fun day camp for the neighborhood kids to go to.  They charged a fee, planned games, themes, activities, and snacks.  The kids had a great time at the camp, and our teenage friends were able to earn some money!

How To Manage Your Hard Earned Money

Now that you have some ideas of how to earn money, let’s talk about what to do with the money after you’ve earned it!  It’s always exciting to earn money and have spending money for your favorite items, but there is more to money than spending it.  Here are a few tips to help you start managing your money wisely.

Save Some For A Rainy Day

Life happens, unexpected expenses will come, and it’s important to always have some money saved for when these times come your way.  It might be a needed car repair, speeding ticket (oops), or losing a school textbook that you have to replace, you need to have money set aside for all unexpected expenses.

A good rule of thumb for your rainy day fund is to have 3-6 months of expenses saved.  To find this number simply add up how much money you spend in a month and times it by 3.  This will give you your 3 months of expenses number!

Save Some For Fun

Part of the fun of having money is spending it on things that make you happy!  It’s OK to spend some of your money on things that you love.  Maybe you enjoy going out to eat, buying new clothes, or going to the movies with friends.  Don’t spend all of your money on these fun items, but spend some of it!  You worked hard and deserve to enjoy it.

Save Some For Future Expenses

You might have items or experiences coming in your future that you need to save for.  Maybe you want to buy a car, go to college, or save up for a future home.  Be sure to save some of your income for these future expenses.

In Conclusion

There are so many possibilities for teenagers to make money.  Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and offer your services.  I love hiring hard working teens, and I know many other adults feel the same way.  You can do it, and you won’t regret it!

The Best Cash Back Apps

March 29, 2021 By: Sweet Frugal Life5 Comments

Easy ways to earn cash back on purchases.

Who likes free money???  You better be raising your hand right now!  I LOVE free money, and I’m pretty sure you love it too!  And guess what!  You can earn FREE MONEY just by shopping how you normally would!  SAY WHAT?!?!  All it takes is a free app, a receipt, and a few clicks of a button.  This has been part of my shopping routine for YEARS and I have earned HUNDREDS of dollars on items I would have spent money on anyways.  Today, I want to share with you the best cash back apps so that you too can earn free money!  (you’re welcome)

How Do Cash Back Apps Work?

Cash back apps are essentially rebates given to you when you make qualifying purchases.  You buy a product, show proof of purchase by scanning your receipt into the app, and then are rewarded with a small amount of cash back.  (done and done!)

The apps are free to use and easy to learn.

I am a member of online affiliate programs.  I will receive compensation from clicks on my links.  All opinions are my own.

Cash Back Apps Dos and Don’ts

I want to start with a word of caution.  I do believe that there is a right way and wrong way to use cash back apps.  When I first started using these apps I spent more money than I should have….because I wanted the cash back.  I bought items I never would have bought, just because they were on the app.  I quickly learned that I wasn’t using these rebate apps in the most frugal way.  Here are a few cash back apps dos and don’ts to help you get started.

Do:

  • Check each cash back app after every shopping trip.  You won’t always get cash back, but it’s worth checking!
  • Make your meal plan and shopping list BEFORE looking at the rebates offered on the app.
  • Use multiple cash back apps for each receipt.
  • Share the app with your friends (most will offer you extra cash for sharing the app with friends).

Don’t:

  • Buy something only because you could earn cash back from that purchase.
  • Download the app with good intentions and then forget to use it!  Always use it for best chances of cash back earnings!
  • Forget to cash out your earnings.  Every app will have different payout limits.  Don’t leave that money just sitting there, request the cash when the time is right, and use it!

Cash Back Apps Only Offer Name Brand Rebates:  FALSE

One of the common misconceptions of cash back apps is that it is only available for name brand products.

This isn’t true.

Yes, there are many name brand products offered as rebates on all cash back apps.  But all of them also offer “any brand” items.  This means that you get money back for buying anything!  It doesn’t matter the brand!

One more word about name brand products.  A lot of name brand products go on sale regularly.  This is a GREAT time to buy something for a cheap price, and then use your cash back apps to get an even BIGGER discount.

So, just because there are a lot of name brand items on the app, does not mean it isn’t frugal.  It just means you need to be intentional with each and every purchase to make sure you are shopping smartly and frugally.

Cash Back Apps Only Offer Junk Food Rebates:  FALSE

Another common misconception of cash back apps is that they only offer rebates on junk food.

This is just not true.  Yes, there are a lot of processed food available as rebates within the app.

But, they also offer rebates on fresh foods and other items.  Today in my cash back apps I see rebates for body wash, laundry detergent, diapers, pet food, pork chops, walnuts, butter, and much more!

The Best Cash Back Apps

Now, let’s get to the apps!  Here are my favorite cash back apps that I use on a regular basis.  Most offer a cash bonus just for trying it out!  So it’s worth trying just to see if you like it or not!

1. Ibotta

The first cash back app I ever tried was Ibotta, it also happens to be one of my very favorites and most popular app out there.

I usually get it deposited into my paypal account, but you can also redeem it for gift cards!

***Bonus:  Sign up for Ibotta using this link to get up to $20 bonus!

2.  Checkout 51

Checkout 51 is very similar to ibotta.  It works as a rebate program where you shop, scan your receipt and will instantly be rewarded cash back on qualifying purchases.  You can even scan the same receipt using both Checkout 51 and Ibotta (yaaay!).

Checkout 51 does not offer a huge selection of cash back offers.  Because of this I don’t earn a lot of money with this app.  I still can earn a few bucks every month and it’s definitely worth my time to scan.

Once you reach $20 in your account you can request your cash back check.

3.  Rakuten

Another one of my very favorite cash back apps is Rakuten.  I use Rakuten every.single.time I shop online.

Rakuten offers you cashback when you shop through their link at participating realtors.  You will find just about all online stores including, Kohls, Ebay, Zulily, Old Navy, Gap, Lowes, etc.

This is also a great travel hack when booking flights or hotels.  Popular travel websites like Travelocity are also partners with Rakuten.  I never book any travel without first going to the Rakuten website.

It’s so easy to start earning money!

  • Download the free app (or use their website)
  • Search for the store you want to shop at
  • Click on the store link
  • You will then be redirected to that store
  • Shop as normal including checkout
  • After checkout a percentage of the amount you spent will be added to your Rakuten account

A check with your cashback is sent to you ever 3 months.  This is one of my fave pieces of mail!

The percentage of cashback you will earn will vary based on the store.  It changes frequently too, so it’s good to check often.

**BONUS:  Sign up through this link and you can earn an BONUS $30 after you spend your first $30.  (hooray!)

4.  Fetch Rewards

Probably the easiest cashback app is Fetch Rewards.   This app doesn’t technically give you cashback, but it does give you points that you can redeem for gift cards.  The gift card options are endless!  A few of my fave examples are Target, Amazon, Sephora, Best Buy, and a bunch of fun restaurants.

How it works:

  • Download the free Fetch Rewards app
  • Grocery shop like you normally do
  • Scan your receipt into the Fetch Rewards app
  • You will automatically be rewarded points based on what you bought.

One of the best things about Fetch Rewards is that you can start redeeming your gift cards at only $3, and it is so easy to earn that first $3.

5.  Upside

We all know gas is expensive right now, and many of us have been implementing some money saving hacks to save on gas. One of my favorite hacks for saving on gas, is to use the Upside cash back app!

All you have to do is download the app here and you will be able to see the gas offers in your area. Choose the offer you want, the offers I’ve received have been anywhere from 15 cents/gallon – 1 cent/gallon cashback. After you select the offer you want to redeem, just go fill up with gas and scan your receipt into the Upside app. It’s all really easy! I’ve been using it for about a year and have earned $50 cash back! Yay!

In Conclusion

If you aren’t using all 4 of these cash back apps now, I suggest you start ASAP!  The way I see it, if you are going to be shopping anyways….you might as well be earning a little cashback along the way!

10 Household Items To Sell For Quick Cash

July 3, 2020 By: Sweet Frugal Life10 Comments

What to sell in your house to make money.

Do you want to know one of my very favorite hobbies?  Cleaning out my house and finding household items to sell for quick cash.  There is always clutter laying around my house (so much clutter) and I love getting rid of it while I earn money at the same time.

I personally try to sell a few items every month.  It’s not a huge money maker for me, but it gives me a little extra spending money, and we all could use a little extra spending money….amiright?!?!?

If you’ve ever felt like you have “nothing to sell” I am here to tell you that everyone can find something (probably even a few things) to sell.  If you truly want to earn money, you will find a way!

After a few years of trial and error I have learned which household items sell best.  Today I am sharing a few tips to help you find things around your house that will sell quickly.  I am hoping these ideas will inspire and help you brainstorm what you have in your house that could make you money.

10 Household Items You Can Sell For Quick Cash

1.  Children’s Clothes

Children’s clothes are one of the hottest items to sale.  If you have kids clothing in good condition (no stains or rips) try selling them to earn some quick cash.  Brand names (think Gymboree, Gap, etc.) will sell best.

Don’t forget to wash the clothing to make them fresh and new.  It also helps to sell the items as a set.  If you have a cute outfit that goes well together (like matching shirt and pants), make sure to bundle them together for a quicker sell.

2.  Furniture

Used furniture is a GREAT sell.  There is always someone needing furniture, but can’t afford to buy it brand new (me! 😉 ).

Both older furniture and newer furniture will sell well if priced right.  Older items are very popular with people looking for a DIY project (old oak pieces are perfect for this!) and bargain shoppers will buy the newer furniture.

Do a little bit of research online to see what similar furniture is being sold for.  This is the easiest way to find the perfect price point.

3.  Electronics

Do you have an old phone or iPad laying around?  Or maybe a computer that doesn’t work anymore?  Consider selling it!

Phones are so expensive to buy new, which makes for a lot of people jumping on the opportunity to buy a cheaper used phone.  Try selling your non working electronics as well!  There are a lot of people out there who will buy something that doesn’t work so they can use the parts out of it.

4.  Baby Items

Baby items are some of my FAVORITE things to sell.  They are always in high demand.

If you have any gently used high chairs, strollers, bumbo seats, cribs, bouncers, etc. that you don’t need anymore, sell them.  If priced right, you will get multiple offers quickly.

Remember to clean the baby item thoroughly before listing it for sale.  I like using a magic eraser to make it look new again before taking pictures.

5.  Kids Toys

If your kids are anything like mine, you probably have toys laying around that never get used.  Clean those toys up and sell them!  Popular items include plastic play toys (such as play kitchens and slides), Barbie’s, hot wheels tracks, etc.

I like to wait until fall to sell kids toys.  This is when parents start shopping for Christmas gifts and I have found the toys sell much quicker during these months.

6.  Tools

Tools are another household item you can sell for quick cash.  Look through your garage to find tools that haven’t been used or needed for months.

We have been successful in selling almost every tool we have listed for sale (yay!).

7.  Decorations

Search your house and try to find a few household decorations you could part with.  Maybe your style has changed or you just want to scale back a little bit on the decor.  Either way, there is always someone looking to update their home and will love getting a good deal on used decor!

8.  Clothing

Look through your closet (or your husbands closet) and find a few items that haven’t been worn for months.  Sell them!

If you’re not wearing something regularly, there’s no reason to save it in your closet.  I’ve sold shirts, pants, shoes, etc. If the price is right, it will sell.  Be sure to get out all stains before trying to sell any clothing.

9.  Holiday Decorations

Are you like me and have WAY to many boxes of holiday decorations???  Recently I have been trying to minimize the amount of holiday decor I own and focus only on keeping a few of my favorite pieces.

Used holiday decorations sell really well.  Just be sure to list these items for sale about 3-5 weeks before the actual holiday.  This will increase your chances of being able to make a sale.

10.  Outdoor/Yard Items

Do you have a swing set that rarely gets used? Maybe a hose that just seems to sit around.  These will sell fast when listed online!

Things like bikes, slides, lawn mowers, sports equipment, etc. all sell really well.  Look through all of your yard/outdoor items and if you find anything that seems to take up more space than necessary, sell it!  Try doing this during the late spring months when everyone is anxious to get outside.

In Conclusion

I truly believe that everyone has a little bit of clutter they could get rid of in their home.  If you are looking for some ways to make a little extra cash, try finding a few things to sell.

I challenge you today (seriously, right now before you forget) to spend a few minutes searching your house for items to sell.  If you haven’t used it in a year or more, get rid of it!

List these items online to sell and enjoy making that money!!  You’re welcome!
